DAY 40: DON’T LIMIT WHO GOD CAN DO IT THROUGH
But the Lord said to Samuel,
“Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance,
but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7
Don’t limit who God can do it through.
You remember the old adage, “don’t judge a book by its cover?” This is a biblical principle God gave so that we wouldn’t always jump to conclusions and make hasty judgments. The story of how David was selected to be the next king is a perfect illustration.
God sent the prophet Samuel to speak to Jesse, who had seven good looking, muscular and educated sons. Samuel went down the line waiting for the Lord to show him which one He had chosen. The only problem was none of these brothers were chosen. Samuel asked Jesse if he had any more sons and it suddenly dawned on him that, yes, he had one more son, the youngest, David, whom he had forgotten about. Evidently David’s own father didn’t see the potential that David had – but God did!
A more modern day example is the couple who wanted to donate money to an East Coast university. When the board saw the man wearing bib overalls and his wife in a shabby dress, they said, “Oh no, go away.” So the “farmers” went out and founded their own university—and they named their university after their son, Stanford. The board members only saw the outward appearance and never knew until it was too late that the couple was worth a fortune!
The point I want you to see is that when God wants to bring you a miracle, don’t judge a book by its cover and don’t limit who that miracle can come through.
Your best is here now!
Pastors Larry and Tiz
Father, help me to see the world through Your eyes. Thank You for Your wisdom and discernment so that I can recognize the opportunities You send to me…and for the people You place in my path that will help me fulfill my purpose. I know that You are watching over Your Word to perform it, and it will accomplish what You have sent it to do in my life. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.
