DAY 47: WATCH YOUR WORDS
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.
If there was only one divine principle I could teach you that will change your life and destiny, it is this: There is POWER in your WORDS!
When God breathed life into Adam, our English Bible translations say “man became a living being.” (Genesis 2:7) In ancient biblical wisdom it says this phrase can also be translated, “and man became a speaking being.” This gives us a whole new perspective on being created in God’s image. Our likeness, or similarity, with the Lord is through the power of our speech. Our words—and even more specifically, God’s words spoken through us—are how we activate the promises, the power and the purpose of God.
However, if positive words can produce positive results, then negative words can produce negative results. Ancient wisdom teaches that negative or evil speech is called loshon hora. Perhaps the worst of all evil speech is when you speak against yourself. Constantly putting yourself down in a negative, demeaning manner is so damaging because it works against everything God wants to develop in your life—it has the effect of nullifying everything God wants to do.
This explains why in many cases bad things happen to good people and why people don’t get the miracle breakthroughs they’re praying for. Negative words will not only repel the promises of God, they often open the door to the enemy, who will bring the very opposite of what you want. So instead, put a guard on your mouth and shut the door on the devil! Begin to define your life, your situation and your future the way God does:
“I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14)
“I am a new creation in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
“I am an overcomer by the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony.” (Rev.12:11)
“I am blessed with all spiritual blessings.” (Ephesians 1:3)
“I am a partaker of His Divine Nature.” (2 Peter 1:4)
Your best is here now!
Pastors Larry and Tiz
Father God, thank You for making me in Your image and for giving me creative power in my words. I pray today that You help me put a guard on my mouth and help me to speak more about who I am in Christ and the incredible destiny You have in front of me. I declare today that I am a new creation through Christ, and that Your Word is renewing the spirit of my mind from being negative to being positive. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
