From Buzzard’s Wings to Eagle’s Wings: Stop Feeding What God Told You to Fight

God never created you to live with buzzard’s wings.

He did not call you to circle what is dead, feed on fear, or settle for survival. He created you to rise. He created you to soar. He created you to live with the strength, vision, courage, and victory of an eagle.

Yet many believers find themselves stuck between promise and manifestation. They know God has spoken. They know His Word is true. They believe He has a plan for their family, their health, their finances, and their future. But while they are waiting for the promise to come to pass, something starts circling.

The buzzards come.

They come as fear. They come as doubt. They come as discouragement. They come as negative reports, old mindsets, and weary thoughts. They come to steal the seed of God’s Word before it produces a harvest.

The question is not whether the buzzards will come. The question is: Will you feed them, or will you drive them away?

THE BUZZARDS COME AFTER THE PROMISE

In Genesis 15, God made covenant with Abraham. Abraham prepared the sacrifice just as God instructed. But before the covenant moment was complete, birds of prey came down on the sacrifice. Scripture says, “When the vultures came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away.”

That moment reveals a powerful spiritual truth: whenever God gives a promise, the enemy tries to devour it.

Abraham did not sit there and watch the buzzards eat what belonged to God. He did not say, “Well, I guess this is just what happens.” He did not surrender the sacrifice. He drove them away.

That is what faith does.

Faith does not entertain the buzzards. Faith does not negotiate with the buzzards. Faith does not feed the buzzards. Faith drives them away.

The buzzards in our lives may not have feathers, but they are just as real. They sound like:

“You will never get well.”

“Your children will never come back to God.”

“You will always struggle.”

“You are too old.”

“You are too young.”

“You missed your chance.”

“God did it for others, but He will not do it for you.”

Those are buzzard thoughts. And if you allow them to land, they will begin to eat away at your faith.

STOP BEING A BUZZARD FEEDER

One of the most important lessons in this message is that many Christians are not defeated because the buzzards are too strong. They are defeated because they keep feeding them.

Every time we agree with fear, we feed the buzzards.

Every time we speak defeat over our future, we feed the buzzards.

Every time we say, “I don’t know if God will come through,” we feed the buzzards.

Every time we let circumstances become louder than Scripture, we feed the buzzards.

A buzzard feeder talks more about the problem than the promise. A buzzard feeder rehearses the diagnosis more than the Word. A buzzard feeder gives more attention to what the enemy is doing than to what God has already declared.

But Abraham was not a buzzard feeder. He was a buzzard beater.

That is the call for every believer. Do not feed what God told you to fight. Do not give strength to the thing that is trying to steal your blessing. Do not make room in your heart for fear, unbelief, or defeat.

When the buzzards come, drive them away with the Word of God.

When sickness speaks, declare healing.

When lack speaks, declare provision.

When fear speaks, declare faith.

When the enemy speaks, declare covenant.

DOVE’S WINGS ARE NOT THE ANSWER

There is another kind of wing the Bible talks about: dove’s wings.

In Psalm 55:6, David said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.” Most of us understand that feeling. When pressure becomes heavy, when battles become long, when people disappoint us, and when life feels overwhelming, the temptation is to fly away.

Dove’s wings represent escape.

They say, “I just want to get away from this.”

“I do not want to fight anymore.”

“I am tired of believing.”

“I am going to pull back.”

“I am going to hide until things get easier.”

But dove’s wings cannot give you lasting victory. They may take you away from the pressure for a moment, but they do not give you authority over the storm. They can carry you into isolation, but they cannot carry you into breakthrough.

God has something higher for you than escape.

He does not want you living with buzzard’s wings, feeding on what is dead. He does not want you depending on dove’s wings, always running from the battle.

He wants you to mount up with eagle’s wings.

EAGLE’S WINGS ARE COVENANT WINGS

In Exodus 19:4, God told Israel, “I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself.”

That is covenant language. God was reminding His people that they did not deliver themselves from Egypt. They did not break Pharaoh’s power by their own strength. They did not cross the Red Sea by human ability. God carried them.

He carried them out of bondage.

He carried them through the impossible.

He carried them away from their enemy.

He carried them to Himself.

That is what eagle’s wings represent. They are not the wings of escape. They are the wings of divine strength. They are not about running away from the enemy. They are about rising above what tried to hold you down.

Buzzard’s wings keep you tied to what is dead.

Dove’s wings make you want to flee.

Eagle’s wings lift you into victory.

MOUNT UP ABOVE THE STORM

Isaiah 40:31 says, “Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles.”

To wait on the Lord does not mean doing nothing. It means trusting Him enough to exchange your strength for His. It means you stop trying to win spiritual battles with natural strength. It means you stop fighting in your own ability and start standing in His power.

You give God your weakness, and He gives you strength.

You give God your fear, and He gives you courage.

You give God your weariness, and He gives you endurance.

You give God your battle, and He gives you victory.

That is what it means to mount up.

Eagles do not run from the wind. They use the wind to rise higher. What was meant to push them back becomes the very thing that lifts them up.

That is the life God has called you to live.

The storm does not have to destroy you. The attack does not have to define you. The delay does not have to defeat you. In God’s hands, even the resistance can become a launching place.

THE EAGLE MENTALITY

The eagle mentality says, “I know who I am in covenant with God.”

David had this mentality when he faced Goliath. Everyone else saw the size of the giant. David saw the size of his God. Everyone else heard threats. David remembered covenant. Everyone else backed away. David ran toward the battle.

That is eagle faith.

Eagle faith does not pretend the giant is not there. It simply refuses to give the giant more authority than God.

Eagle faith says:

“You come against me with sickness, but I come in the name of the Lord.”

“You come against me with fear, but I come with the Word of God.”

“You come against my family, but I stand on covenant promise.”

“You come against my future, but God has already gone before me.”

When you know who carries you, you stop being afraid of what comes against you.

DO NOT LOOK BACK

Eagles do not fly backward.

That is a word for someone today. Your breakthrough is not behind you. Your harvest is not in your past. Your future is not in yesterday’s failure, yesterday’s disappointment, or yesterday’s wound.

Stop looking back at what did not work.

Stop rehearsing what they said.

Stop replaying the mistake.

Stop measuring your future by your past.

God is calling you higher. He is calling you forward. He is calling you to rise above the place where the enemy tried to keep you grounded.

You are not called to live under the circumstances. You are called to mount up above them.

FROM BUZZARD’S WINGS TO EAGLE’S WINGS

So how do you move from buzzard’s wings to eagle’s wings?

You stop feeding fear.

You stop speaking defeat.

You stop agreeing with the enemy.

You stop running from the battle.

You stop looking back.

Then you begin to do what Abraham did: drive the buzzards away.

Drive them away with praise.

Drive them away with the Word.

Drive them away with covenant confidence.

Drive them away with bold declarations.

Drive them away every morning if you have to. Drive them away every hour if necessary. Drive them away until your faith becomes louder than your fear.

You were not created to live like a buzzard. You were not created to survive on leftovers from yesterday’s pain. You were not created to circle what is dead.

You were created to soar.

A DECLARATION FOR TODAY

I am not a buzzard feeder. I am a buzzard beater. I will not feed fear, doubt, unbelief, or defeat. I will drive away every thought that tries to steal the promise of God from my life.

I will not settle for dove’s wings and run from the battle. I will mount up with wings like eagles. God is renewing my strength. God is carrying me by His covenant power. I am not going under. I am going over.

My past is behind me. My victory is before me. My God is with me.

I rise above the storm.

I mount up with eagle’s wings.

This is your time to stop circling the promise and start soaring in it.

And this is why we do what we do.

Every message we share, every teaching we release, every life we encourage, and every family we help strengthen is rooted in this same mission: to help people rise above fear, stand on God’s Word, and walk in the covenant victory He has promised.

Through this ministry, people are being reminded that they do not have to live defeated, discouraged, or bound by what the enemy has tried to steal. They can mount up with eagle’s wings. They can overcome. They can step into the promises of God.

Your partnership helps us continue carrying this message of faith, hope, healing, and victory to people who need it now more than ever.

Would you prayerfully consider sowing a gift today to help us keep this life-changing ministry moving forward?

FINAL THOUGHT

Buzzards feed on what is dead. Eagles rise toward what is alive.

Do not let the enemy pull you down into fear, discouragement, or defeat. Do not feed what God told you to fight. Do not run from what God has given you power to overcome.

Abraham drove the buzzards away.

Israel was carried on eagle’s wings.

And you have been called to mount up.

This is your time to stop circling the promise and start soaring in it.
