Purim & The Hidden Hand of God: When Heaven Is Working Behind the Scenes

In the midst of life’s darkest moments, when everything seems to be falling apart, God is often working behind the scenes in ways we cannot see. The story of Esther teaches us that what appears to be our worst nightmare can become the very thing God uses to bring about our greatest victory.

What Does It Mean When God’s Face Is Hidden?

The Book of Esther is unique in Scripture because it never mentions God’s name, not even once. This absence is intentional and represents what Hebrew scholars call hester panim — the hidden face of God. This concept teaches us a profound truth: even when we cannot see, feel, or sense God’s presence, He is still actively working on our behalf.

When your family is struggling, your business is failing, your health is declining, or your future looks uncertain, remember that God’s apparent absence doesn’t mean He has abandoned you. He never forsakes His children, and what Satan intends for evil, God will turn around for good.

Why Should We Rejoice During Difficult Times?

The Bible commands us to “rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice.” This isn’t just positive thinking — it’s a declaration of faith that acknowledges God’s sovereignty over every situation. As believers, we’re not meant to have bad days, though we may have difficult moments.

When the enemy attacks, we must grab hold of this truth: the God who is almighty, magnificent, and cares more about us than we care about ourselves is working behind the scenes. We are not going under — we are going over. We are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus.

What Can We Learn from Haman’s Plot?

In Esther’s story, Haman represents the spiritual enemy who attacks God’s people without cause. Like the Amalekites who attacked Israel from behind as they left Egypt, Haman’s hatred was rooted in fear — fear of what God’s people might accomplish.

The devil attacks you for two reasons: first, because he hates you, and second, because he’s afraid of your destiny. Your destiny is one of blessing, as Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us: “I know the plans I have for you, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Even when circumstances look impossible — when the king has signed an unchangeable decree — God has the final word. What looks like certain defeat becomes the setup for divine victory.

Are You Called for Such a Time as This?

Mordecai’s famous words to Esther — “Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this” — carry a warning that’s often overlooked. He also told her, “Don’t think that if you don’t stand up, you and your family will survive.”

This message is crucial for believers today. We cannot remain neutral or silent about our faith. We’re either on God’s side or we’re not. There’s no middle ground. If we don’t stand up for righteousness, morality, and biblical truth, we won’t survive spiritually.

It’s time to be proud of being born-again Christians. We must be willing to pray over our meals publicly, share our faith at work, and let everyone know that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. If we’re ashamed of the gospel, we won’t see God’s power manifested in our lives.

How Do All Things Work Together for Good?

Romans 8:28 promises that “all things work together for good,” but this promise comes with conditions. It applies “to those who love God and are called according to His purpose.” Loving God isn’t just an emotional feeling — it means obeying what God tells us to do.

True love for God is demonstrated through consistent church attendance, faithful tithing, active service, and bold witness. If you only attend church sporadically, that’s lukewarm Christianity. God desires wholehearted devotion, not convenience-based commitment.

What Does It Mean to Make the World Better?

Before we’re born, God gives each of us a destiny to tikkun olam — to make the world better. He sees a broken world and assigns us a purpose to help repair it. This might involve feeding orphans, supporting Israel, serving in your local church, or starting a prayer group at work.

The question we must ask ourselves is: Is the world a better place today than it was last year because of me? If not, now is the time to step into our calling and make a difference.

How Does God Turn Our Enemies Into Our Helpers?

During the Great Shabbat season, God has a special way of turning our enemies into those who work for us. People who have been attacking or hindering us can suddenly become instruments of blessing in our lives.

This supernatural turnaround happens when we serve God wholeheartedly and trust His timing. What Satan means for evil, God redirects for our good and His glory.

And today, we are living in another “such a time as this” moment.

Just as Esther was positioned in the palace for a divine purpose, believers around the world are being positioned right now to stand with Israel. The spirit that rose up against the Jewish people in Esther’s day has not disappeared — but neither has the covenant faithfulness of God.

When Haman plotted destruction, God was already orchestrating deliverance.

And God is still doing the same today.

Israel faces real threats. Families live under the shadow of terrorism. First responders race toward danger. Holocaust survivors and vulnerable communities depend on faithful partners who refuse to be silent.

This is not political — this is biblical.

Scripture declares that those who bless Israel will be blessed. When you stand with Israel, you align yourself with God’s covenant promises. When you give, you become part of the miracle. When you pray, you release heaven’s authority into earthly battles.

Esther didn’t remain silent. She stood up.

Now it’s our turn.

Stand with Israel. Pray for her peace. Give generously to support the lifesaving and humanitarian work that protects and restores God’s people.

Because just like in the Book of Esther, what the enemy means for evil — God will turn for good.

And the opposite will take place.
