Why Israel Is Important For Christians

Israel’s rebirth as a nation is the single greatest fulfillment of Bible prophecy we have seen in 2,000 years. Throughout world history, doubters said that it could never happen. No people lacking land and a common language could possibly be reborn as a nation! It had never happened before, and most of the world had been convinced it would never happen.  Yet it did, exactly the way God said it would.

A Home Of Hope

The impossible happened on May 15, 1948, as prophesied in Isaiah 66:8; Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once?

In 1948, when Israel declared its independence there were only a few hundred thousand people. Now today, because of God’s prophetic plans to gather the Jewish people from around the world and bring them home there are nearly eight million. It’s a modern-day fulfillment of ancient Bible prophecy.

The late Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, who was Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth, once wrote: “The day will come, when the story of Israel in modern times will speak not just to Jews, but to all who believe in the power of the human spirit as it reaches out to God, as an everlasting symbol of the victory of life over death, hope over despair. Israel has achieved great things. It has taken a barren land and made it bloom again. It’s taken an ancient language, the Hebrew of the Bible, and made it speak again. It’s taken the West’s oldest faith and made it young again. Israel has taken a tattered, shattered nation and made it live again. Israel is the country whose national anthem, Hatikva, means hope. Israel is the home of hope.”

Theodor Herzl, the modern-day founding father of Israel, saw the dangers of anti-Semitism in the late 1800s and was inspired to begin the Zionist movement. He worked fearlessly to bring the chosen people of God back to their ancestral homeland – Israel. He is quoted as saying: “It is true that we aspire to our ancient land. But what we want in that ancient land is a new blossoming of the Jewish spirit.”

Over the past 75 years, the world has witnessed that blossoming Jewish Spirit. Against all odds they have not only survived – they have thrived. Israel has become one of the most creative and innovative countries in the world.

Israel’s Part & Your Part of God’s Prophetic Plan

As well, Israel has always been at the center of God’s prophetic plans.  He made a lasting covenant with Abraham and all His descendants some 4,000 years ago.  The Lord clearly said, “…. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Genesis 12:2-3

This is the very first blessing (and the very first curse) God set in motion with Abraham and it is linked to how we relate to the nation of Israel. Until recently, what most Gentile believers never understood is that we have become part of this phenomenal blessing. We (Christians) are “grafted into” this lineage and heritage. Israel’s story is our story too. We are the “seed of Abraham.” We are Judeo-Christians. This is what the Apostle Paul is teaching in Romans 11. Standing with Israel and being a blessing to the Jewish people is a huge key to walking in the blessing of God – spiritually, physically, financially, and relationally.

Today, from all around the world, Jews continue to return to Israel.  They are making what is known as Aliyah. God gave us numerous prophecies proclaiming this would happen. The most stunning of them all is perhaps from the prophet Isaiah. The Lord showed him that in the last days, it would be Gentiles who would respond to God’s prophetic plans. We would play an important role in helping Jews dispersed around the world return to the Promised Land.

This is what the Sovereign LORD says: “See, I will beckon to the Gentiles, I will lift up My banner to the peoples; they will bring your sons in their arms and carry your daughters on their shoulders.” Isaiah 49:22 NIV

For over 25 years our ministry, supported by multitudes of partners and friends from around the world, has continued to support Israel by funding many important charitable projects. Perhaps the most important is this fulfillment of Bible prophecy – bringing Jews back to Israel from the four corners of the Earth through Project Aliyah

Pastor Larry’s Life Changing Revelation

It’s been a fantastic and rewarding journey that began nearly three decades ago. On my very first trip to Israel, I had what can only be called a supernatural encounter with the Lord.  One of the places we visited was Capernaum at the site where Jesus healed Peter’s mother-in-law.  There is an ancient synagogue just inside the city gate.  It was there that I happened to notice an inscription written in ancient Hebrew on the doorpost of the entrance.

I was told it was a dedication plaque made by some of the descendants of the apostles. Puzzled by that, I asked our tour guide and dear friend Joseph: “Why would Christians be involved with supporting a Jewish synagogue? Weren’t they followers of Jesus? Were they backslidden?”

His answer changed my life and the direction of our ministry forever.  “The church and the synagogue were synonymous for three hundred and twenty-five years after Christ’s resurrection.  Jesus never intended for His followers to be separated from Israel, from God’s chosen people, or from the Torah. As Christians, we were grafted into Israel.”

God spoke to me that day and told me that He would teach me how to re-read the Bible through the eyes of a Jewish Jesus. Then I would teach these truths and revelations to the church world. This began a phenomenal and totally unexpected journey into discovering the Jewish roots of our Christian faith and writing books like The Torah Blessing that reconnects us to the rich heritage of the Christian faith. It’s a journey that has become a grassroots movement. Multitudes of Christians from around the world are now joining in.

We Celebrate The 75th Anniversary of A Strong Nation

So, on behalf of my family, my Church, and my ministry partners around the world, we celebrate with Israel during this grand 75th anniversary year. I am immensely honored and humbled that God would allow us to become a leading voice and influence in standing with Israel and supporting the Jewish people. Seeing Christians and Jews come together according to God’s Word in Malachi 4 and Ephesians 2 is amazing.  It’s an incredible fulfillment of Bible prophecy….and without a doubt, it’s a revelation for ‘such a time as this.’

At a time when Israel faces opposition from every angle, our decision to stand with Israel is tearing down centuries of division, fulfilling Bible prophecy, and preparing the world for the coming of the Messiah. We invite you to join in the celebration by offering a gift of support to Israel.

As you partner with Tiz and I through prayer and financial support, you too are indeed playing an important role in fulfilling end-time Bible prophecy. Make no mistake, that as we stand together with Israel, God’s promises as well as His blessings and miracles will be released into your life, family, finances, and future. Thank you for continuing to provide for Israel as God provides for you.

Passover is a sacred time for both Christians and Jews. It is rooted in the timeless story of Exodus––where God told the Israelites to mark their homes with the blood of a lamb.Exodus 12:13 proclaims the divine protection and deliverance of this sacred holiday by saying, “When I see the blood, I will pass over you.” This underscores the life-transforming power of this sacred deliverance.
