In ancient times, when cutting a blood covenant, the two parties walked around the sacrifices eight times. Did you know that eight is the number of new beginnings? Are you ready to take your walk? Are you ready to walk in the power of God? Are you ready to walk in the blessing of God? Are you ready to walk in the anointing of God? Are you ready to walk in the favor of God? Are you ready to walk in the abundance of God? I believe God is healing marriages as you read these words. I believe people are beginning to move in the gifts of the Spirit as the Lord moves in their lives. God is bringing signs, wonders, and miracles for you and for me!
What’s that on Your Hand?
The parties entering into a blood covenant exchanged robes, they exchanged weapons, they gave the sacrifice, and they walked in a figure eight, saying this is now a supernatural new beginning. But then each person would take a sword or knife and slice his hand. They would literally cut a covenant. One person would cut himself, the other would cut himself, and then they would clasp hands, and the blood would mingle, indicating they were now blood brothers. They were saying, “My power is your power; my strength is your strength; my wealth is your wealth; my army is your army; my authority is your authority.”
The blood covenant handgrip helps us fully understand these verses from the Word of God.
“See, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands.” (Isaiah 49:16)
“You shall also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the
hand of your God.” (Isaiah 62:3)
“The Lord has sworn by His right hand and by the arm of His strength.” (Isaiah 62:8)
“And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them
Out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; and no one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand.” (John 10:28–29)
The soldiers didn’t just tie Jesus to the tree; they nailed Him to the tree. That wasn’t an everyday occurrence. There weren’t nails everywhere for people to routinely have nails driven through their hands. It’s not a coincidence that Jesus had nails driven into His hands because He was fulfilling prophecy. When His blood mixes with your blood, it’s not your strength anymore, but by the might of His right hand that you shall be saved.” (Psalm 138:7; Isaiah 41:10)
In Bible days, while the wound on their hands was healing, they would take ash from the fire and mix it in the wound, which would cause the wound to turn black. And if that person was traveling down a road alone and the enemy came, he would look at his scar and remember that he’s not alone. Here comes debt. Here comes sickness. Here comes divorce. Here comes an attack on your kids. Here comes the enemy, and it looks like he’s bigger than you. It looks like he outnumbers you. It looks like he’s stronger than you. But you can hold up your hand and say, “It may look like I’m alone, but I am not alone. I have an army behind me. I have a covenant partner behind me.”
I pray you lay hold of this revelation of your covenant with Jesus, the Son of God. When the devil comes against you, the devil will say, “Don’t you know I’m bigger than you? Don’t you know I’m tougher than you? Don’t you know I’m better than you?” But you lift up your hand and say, “You’ve got to understand I am not alone. I am in blood covenant with Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. It may look like I’m alone, but greater is He that’s in me than anything you can bring my way.”
Talk to the Hand
When Lion and Tiz got sick, we immediately turned to our covenant with our Lord and declared: “You turned the intended curse into a blessing because you love me” (Deuteronomy 23:5). “Christ has redeemed me from every curse, sickness, and plague” (Galatians 3:13).
The world has told you that blessings and miracles are not for you because of the color of your skin, or because you’re male or you’re female, or because you’re too young or too old, or because you’re not smart enough or you don’t have enough faith. Those voices will always be around to tell you why you can’t have God’s best. Do you know what you do? You say, “Go talk to the hand.” Is your marriage in an impossible situation? Talk to the hand. Are your children away from God? Talk to the hand. Is there anger, division, and discord in your family? Talk to the hand. Are you weighed down by discouragement, anxiety, or hopelessness? Talk to the hand. Do you struggle with financial or economic challenges? Talk to the hand. Do you need someone to respect your authority? Talk to the hand. Is the devil accusing and condemning you right now? Definitely tell him to talk to the hand. Then receive all the protection, freedom, healing, and blessings of your forever covenant with God through Jesus!
