Psalm 34:3 says, “Oh, magnify the Lord with me.” Magnification doesn’t change what we are looking at; it just enlarges it. It focuses on and accentuates it. When we look at God and magnify Him, we are focusing on and enlarging His attributes. That scripture also says, “Let us exalt His name.” His name is Healer, and His power is larger than the events going on in the world or the circumstances in our lives. To exalt means to glorify, praise, and lift up above everything else. Let’s choose to elevate God and His promises above any challenges we’re facing. Instead of magnifying the problems in the world, magnify the promises in His Word.
I’m telling you this story because it made such an impact on Katie and me. We were at a chemo treatment. We were weary and a bit shaken up. We chose to rise above the circumstances and tap into God’s strength. We “put on” faith and joy and deliberately magnified the Lord rather than the negative reports and emotions we were experiencing. We weren’t aware of an extra touch from the Holy Spirit, but I do remember our hearts being lifted as we talked about the goodness of God.
Every time we faced a distressing report, we chose to rejoice. The Spirit of God filled us, equipped us, and brought healing to our hearts, minds, and bodies. A month later the numbers that troubled us were back to normal and improving. It was another miracle by the moment. God had met us at the point of our need. He will do that for you.
My Attitude Readjustment Formula
We all chose, at every step of the journey to stay in faith, rejoice and smile. You can do it too no matter what you are facing.
Rise up thanking God for waking me and giving me life, health, strength, equipping, direction,
wisdom, peace, love, and joy.
Breathe in His breath of life and let it fill my being.
Smile at the Lord. Love on Him. Sense His smile and love right back at me. Feel His presence
and reality.
Focus on my God, His love, and His greatness before I focus on my to-do list and challenges.
Cover and fill my mind, heart, soul, and body with His Holy Spirit, promises, blessings, and miracles.
Determine that no matter what the day brings, the Lord already has it all covered and taken care of. He’s got this, so I’ve got this!
Put on happy clothes, happy makeup, a happy attitude, happy thoughts, and a happy smile. Carry myself like I’m already healed, whole, and victorious.
Remember that my smile becomes me. Sometimes we smile because we’re happy; sometimes we’re happy because we smile.
Ask God to not only bless me and my family but to use me to be a blessing to others. We are blessed to be a blessing!
Make the choice to rejoice—then repeat, repeat, repeat. The joy of the Lord is my strength!
Rise above negative circumstances with positive thoughts, words, and actions. Take the high road.
Be the light! Be the blessing! Be the bringer of joy! Giving has a boomerang effect. What we cause to happen for others, God will cause to happen for us.
Joy + Faith = Miracles by the Moment.
If I mess up, fall short, or completely blow it, I shout, “Grace!” I immediately ask forgiveness
from the Lord and the person I hurt, if applicable, then I get up, get over it, and get on with
it.
This works every time and every day. Every step of the way in your journey, repeat this easy-to-do formula, and remember to smile!
